PrecisionHawk has announced that Eli Tamanaha, co-founder and former CTO DroneBase, will join PrecisionHawk as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. This newly created position will help the company accelerate the growth of PrecisionHawk’s Drone Pilot Network, Droners.io.
PrecisionHawk Inc. has been a major player in the drone industry for years – and what’s kept them at the top of the game has been a willingness to evolve and change as the industry develops. From “a leading drone manufacturer,” PrecisionHawk’s description has evolved to “a leading provider of enterprise drone technology”–reflecting the company’s shift from production of their iconic fixed wing to delivery of drones (including those from other manufacturers), sensors, software, analytics, tracking (through their development of the LATAS system) and services.
Those services include finding a licensed drone provider, through PrecisionHawk’s acquisition of Droners.io and AirVid last February, giving the company the largest network of licensed operators – over 15,000 – in the world. That acquisition was a bold strategic move for PrecisionHawk, one which the company says “equipped PrecisionHawk with a platform to support the delivery of on-demand, drone-based imagery to its enterprise clients by connecting certified drone pilots to commercial jobs.”
The addition of Eli Tamanaha underscores PrecisionHawk’s commitment to expanding in the services realm. “Tamanaha joins PrecisionHawk with four patents and 15 years of experience in the technology and drone industry,” says the company release. “Previously, he co-founded DroneBase, where he spent four years as its chief technology officer developing the company’s technology stack that connects drone pilots to commercial jobs.”
“With Eli’s depth of experience, he is ideally suited to help PrecisionHawk drive the next era of major industry innovation in which aerial intelligence will enhance nearly every aspect of business operations,” said Chasen. “As an entrepreneur and technology thought leader, Eli brings a strategic view of the market and valuable technical expertise that will help us expand the delivery of drone services to our enterprise clients.”
“PrecisionHawk has an amazing team of people, and it is incredibly invigorating to work at a company where you have the opportunity to work so closely with customers on the integration of a disruptive technology, like drones,” Tamanaha tells DRONELIFE. “I have experienced first-hand the power of a platform like Droners.io, and by joining PrecisionHawk, I believe I can help traditional industries realize the value drones bring to their business and turn my vision of a world where drones are a common place technology into a reality.”
“We have been working diligently to build a platform that supports the independent drone operator and creates unparalleled efficiencies for the world’s leading enterprises through drone servicing,” said Irina Denisenko, vice president of the PrecisionHawk Pilot Network. “We are already well on our way, and the addition of Eli Tamanaha makes us that much stronger. He brings valuable industry and technical expertise as well as a passion for building amazing products that work seamlessly for our customers.”
