CEO Mike Winn Kicks Off DroneDeploy Day

Mike Winn, CEO, DroneDeploy

Drone mapping platform DroneDeploy kicked off their annual user conference with a keynote address by CEO Mike Winn with CTO and Co-Founder Nick Pilkington, two of the industry’s leading voices.

At DroneDeploy’s sleek San Francisco offices, a packed room listened to a keynote that talked about where the company had been – and where it was headed.  Winn and Pilkington both focused on what has become a company mantra: a drone on every job site.

It’s a future that the company believes in.  Winn pointed out that their own platform DroneDeploy has tripled the number of acres mapped in the last year, to an impressive 25 million acres.

25 million acres is a lot of data.  It’s an underlying theme to all of DroneDeploy’s announcements: their customer base is expanding, the use cases for their product are growing, and the amount of data available to the company to make development decisions is impressive.  Winn points out that the rapid growth is in part due to the dramatic increase in enterprise adoption throughout the industry, and promises that DroneDeploy’s solution is growing and developing to keep up with the expansion.

Winn says that the company is focused on what they do best: software.  They’re committed to continuing to develop their industry-leading platform to be even more simple, to be enterprise-ready, and to provide real-time data to their customers.

Pilkington says that with the largest ecosystem in the industry they are positioned to offer a best-in-class full stack solution.  From a technology standpoint, DroneDeploy is addressing drone workflow, data insights, and enterprise scale.  When discussing industry trends like machine learning and AI, Pilkington said that those technologies are designed to go after big problems.  “Those technologies take the most complicated, tedious analysis jobs and automate them,” said Pilkington.  “They make work easier.”

“It’s exciting to be able to be able to go after these problems now…  and you can expect the best from us.”  says Pilkington.
