So Much For Pictures of the Pool: Pix4D Shows Off the Ultimate Real Estate Experience

The days of trying to sell a home to distant home buyers by carefully cropping out the recycling center next door from the pictures are over, thanks to drone mapping.  Even aerial images that show off the landscaping are now old school.

Pix4D, the Swiss photogrammetry-powered, drone-based solution provider, has released a sample website demonstrating the ultimate property experience.

Pix4D is releasing the discovery website during the MIPIM (Le Marché International des Professionnels de L’Immobilier) conference: one of the most important international property events, hosted at the Palais des Festivals, in Cannes. The four day real estate conference attracts over 20,000 attendees from around the globe.

This sample website demonstrates how 3D content generated with Pix4D software could be integrated in an online real estate platform.  Combining traditional descriptions, image galleries, and maps with 3D maps of developments, narrated fly through videos and 3D models creates a total experience for property buyers, providing maximum information from a distance.

With the implementation of Part 107 in the US and the relaxation of commercial regulations, drones have become a must-have tool for realtors and construction companies hoping to monitor – and market – new properties.   But most stop at images, hiring a photography company to add aerial images to their regular package or flying a drone themselves. Utilizing sophisticated photogrammetry software combined with aerial data takes real estate drones to a whole new level.  Pix4D hopes that by demonstrating the possibilities, more realtors will take advantage of the technology.

Pix4D’s modeling product – Pix4Dmodel – is a complete solution based around a simple workflow.  The cameras recommended are those of commonly available prosumer drones, such as the Parrot Bebop, the DJI Phantom or Inspire models, and the 3DR Solo; the easy-to-use app allows realtors and other professionals not familiar with photogrammetry to delivery spectacular results.    As 3D modeling apps get easier and less expensive to use, they may soon become the standard for real estate presentations.
