In the spirit of supporting wounded veterans and testing area golfers’ skills, OhWowGolf LLC, a drone, film and production company of Colorado Springs, Colorado decided to develop a fundraiser as golfers try to hit targets that are hanging from a drone. Sound intriguing? Fox News thought so and featured this story about them.
Dave Hovasse, Marine, and founder of OhWowGolf said, “Colorado had its longest winter ever, and we couldn’t play golf. Plus the grass is never green during the winters in Colorado, which rules out filming them. We decided to develop something that golf courses could do in the winter, so we developed a “Hit The Drone Contest.” Everyone was having so much fun so we decided to train wounded veterans how to do it. One thing lead to another when golf courses asked us if we could incorporate all this fun stuff for all of their other charitable tournaments to enjoy, so we did.”
Hovasse has been developing OhWowGolf since October 2014. Besides his innovative fundraisers utilizing drones, he also has patents pending with how he films golf courses with drones and how they process the video. “We’re the first company on the planet to apply augmented reality onto a fairway, which transforms a typical yardage book into a 3D live experience of each hole’ he adds. “Golf courses and resorts now have a plethora of practical uses for our video’s,” says Hovasse. They can use them on smart phones, club houses, hotel rooms and on social media platforms.
His video’s and fundraisers are exciting and unlike anything we’ve ever seen, says Jeff Esterline, Certified PGA Teaching Pro from Colorado. “We can’t wait to see what he comes up with next”, Jeff adds. Take a look!
OhWowGolfs’s next move is “to train drone pilots, across the globe with his proprietary methods of hosting fundraisers and filming golf courses,” says Hovasse. He adds that he’s offering all drone pilots the opportunity to have exclusive territories that will protect them from competitors. “But most importantly, our first pilots on-board with us will act as Ambassadors for our program. They’ll be training severely wounded veterans how to safely fly drones and host fundraisers for different charitable events.
