Airnest for iOS looks to bring ease of use to aerial photography

Airnest released its iOS app for use with DJI Phantom 3 (Pro and Advanced) and the DJI Inspire 1 this week which they claim is “the easiest way to fly, capture and share stunning aerial shots.”

Key features available with your iPhone or iPad version of the app include:

• the ability to draw a flight path with your finger to safely instruct your drone to fly on autopilot for capturing video or camera stills.
• the ability to control the camera simply by panning and tilting your iOS device. As you move your iPad or iPhone. The drone will mimic your movements while streaming the live feed back down to you.
• display of no fly zones such as airports
• not flying above the 400′ prescribed by the FAA

You can can plan a flight and launch into the air in 3 easy steps. Once airborne, the drone follows the flightpath and captures high resolution photos or video on its memory card.

Co-founder Ben Brautigam states, “We believe drones will impact virtually every industry from filmmaking to farming. But to get there, we believe it needs to be a lot simpler. That’s why we made an app without the confusing controls so you can get the shots you want without the hassle.”

The goal is remove the time consuming tasks of programming upwards spirals and other stunts. One beta tester said with  “this app it takes literally seconds.”

The company also plans to continually update its app to maintain safety and compliance as regulations evolve.
