“Located south of the White Mountains in New Hampshire, Squam lake is known for its pristine, clear waters, diverse wildlife, and surrounding mountains.”
And, in his first published aerial video, photographer and film editor Will Strathmann captured all that and more.
It’s an especially beautiful video because it’s September which means all the land in this video will probably be covered in snow and/or ice in about 3 weeks and then it won’t see green for six months.
The shots with the airplane in the background made me a little nervous because of all the misplaced concern that has been circulating the web about drones coming too close to planes, but Strathmann seems to know what he is doing.
Especially with that final shot of the Loons.
Well done, sir.

Thanks so much for the share! I updated the description to address the shot with the plane. In retrospect I wish I left it out since it could potentially send the wrong message about safe flying.
From the new video description: “To answer concern about the shot with the plane in them – I was unaware the plane was in the area when I orginially took off. It was just after sunrise when I noticed it flying across the lake, having taking off from an unseen cove on the other side of the lake. As soon as I saw the plane I brought the Phantom down to 15 feet and hovered it over the dock I was flying from. As it flew by I rotated the Phantom to track the plane. After the plane passed I landed the Phantom in case the plane continued to fly in the area. Fly safe and always be aware of your surroundings when flying!”
Cheers,
Will
