Yuneec International has officially announced the latest iteration of their popular Typhoon Q500 drone, the Q500 4K. The new model will ship with a brand new CGO3 4K camera that shoots ultra high definition video and 12 megapixel still images.
Also included in the new package is Yuneec’s Steady Grip handheld camera mount, so users can detach the 4K camera from the drone and get incredibly smooth close-up shots.
The new model also includes the latest firmware update to the Q500 line which included an enhanced ‘follow me’ mode and a ‘watch me’ mode which keeps the drone’s camera locked on a single subject as the drone moves through the air.

DroneLife gave the original Q500 a glowing review, praising it for it’s ease of use and ‘training wheels’ – like features that make it accessible to first time drone owners.
The new camera and features can only make this strong platform stronger.
The Q500 4K will retail for $1299 and is expected to be available in mid-July.

Wow, 4 k cameras are starting to become the norm now. Halfway through 2015 and we have 4 drones on the market with 4k cameras. They are as follows: DJI Inspire 1, Phantom 3 Professional, Walkera Voyager 3 and now the Yuneec Typhoon Q500. Incredible advances in drone technology so far in 2015
And it is only a matter of time before 4K is the rule, not the exception!
Walkera Voyager 3 doesn’t come with a 4K camera, it only 1080.
