Notorious drone graffiti artist KATSU is at it again. But this time, he has tackled a bigger canvas.
Early on Wednesday, KATSU flew his hacked DJI Phantom and spraypainted over Kendall Jenner’s face on a Calvin Klein billboard in New York City in what can only be described as the first time a drone has been used for public vandalism.
“It turned out surprisingly well,” KATSU told Wired, ““It’s exciting to see its first potential use as a device for vandalism.”
According to Wired, the stunt was effectively a proof of concept for a graffiti drone KATSU is hoping to bring to market “very soon.”

Details are scarce, but KATSU has been working on painting with drones for quite some time, so you have to imagine when his product does become available, it will be well thought out.
Will it make vandalism easier to commit but harder to detect? Possibly.
But, like the intersection of drones and privacy, there are existing laws that apply to perpetrators regardless of their methods. If you want to double down on preventing drone vandalism in your town, this is your wakeup call.
No word from Kendall Jenner or Calvin Klein yet, but if ad men can use the latest technology to alter their advertisements to make them as noticeable as possible, can’t KATSU?
