Strategic Collaboration Aims to Foster Korean Advanced Air Mobility Market
Skyports Infrastructure, a leading provider of vertiport infrastructure for the advanced air mobility (AAM) industry, has announced a partnership with Jeju Air Co., Korea’s foremost low-cost airline. This collaboration is set to support the deployment of vertiports for air taxi operations in Korea.
The agreement, formalized during a signing ceremony in Gimpo City, Korea, leverages the complementary expertise of Skyports and Jeju Air in aviation operations and infrastructure. Together, they aim to develop a robust vertiport network across Korea, engaging key government, regulatory, and industry stakeholders to identify the requirements, opportunities, and challenges associated with launching vertiport infrastructure and air taxi operations.
Korean Air Taxi Development
The initial focus will be on defining a network development strategy that targets major metropolitan areas and Jeju Island. This strategic plan will be followed by detailed assessments of priority sites within these regions to prepare for commercial launch. Additionally, Skyports and Jeju Air will explore the commercial viability of Korean air taxi services, producing an actionable business strategy for the development and operation of AAM infrastructure.

Since launching in the country in 2023, we’ve been working extensively with local partners to explore and develop opportunities for industry growth. Our partnership with Jeju Air brings new expertise and local connections. We’re excited to work together to take AAM to the next level in Korea develop concrete plans for implementing air taxi services,” said Yun Yuan Tay, Head of the Asia-Pacific region at Skyports.
Jeju Air, which operates 42 aircraft and flies to 47 different locations throughout Korea, aims to provide “total air mobility service” to customers by integrating emerging airline services with urban air mobility. Park Tae-ha, head of Jeju Air’s UAM Business Task Force, stated, “Through cooperation with Skyports, we will establish business models suitable for the Korean environment and solidify a standardized service system that can be immediately utilised in the commercialisation phase of UAM.”
This partnership marks a significant step forward in the advancement of the AAM market in Korea, highlighting the collaborative efforts needed to develop and implement innovative air mobility solutions.
