Certification Enables Expanded BVLOS Operations in Dallas Fort Worth
The certification marks a key step in expanding operations across the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) region. The company’s first deployment under the certification will take place in Murphy, Texas, with plans to extend to 10 additional locations in the DFW area.
A Significant Step for Drone Delivery
Part 135 certification is essential for scaling drone delivery operations. It enables DroneUp to extend its delivery radius to five miles, increasing the number of serviceable households by 300%. The certification also ensures that DroneUp meets the FAA’s high safety and operational standards.
Tom Walker, DroneUp’s Founder and CEO, shared his excitement about this milestone. “We are proud to achieve the FAA’s Part 135 Air Carrier and Operator Certification, a pivotal step in transforming how goods are delivered,” he said. Walker emphasized the company’s focus on “innovation, safety, and operational excellence,” as well as its commitment to redefining convenience with “a fast, sustainable, and reliable delivery solution.”
DroneUp plans to continue collaborating with the FAA to explore further expansions. These include operating over longer distances, carrying heavier payloads, and reaching more communities across the United States.
Building on Collaboration with the FAA
Achieving Part 135 certification was a collaborative process with the FAA. Anthony Vittone, COO of DroneUp, highlighted the company’s rapid progress. “We are very grateful for the collaborative process we undertook with the FAA in achieving this certification; the fastest drone company to achieve air carrier certification that was not based on an existing platform,” said Vittone.
With this certification, DroneUp aims to meet growing demand for drone delivery while maintaining high safety and operational standards. Vittone described the milestone as a significant achievement for DroneUp’s team and technology. “With the FAA’s partnership and rigorous oversight, we are poised to expand our reach, driving innovation while meeting surging demand.”
Expanding Drone Delivery in Dallas Fort Worth
The Dallas Fort Worth area is set to become a hub for DroneUp’s certified operations. The company’s initial deployment in Murphy, Texas, will feature next-generation drones capable of carrying up to 10 pounds over five miles. DroneUp plans to scale operations across its other 10 DFW locations in the near future.
This strategic expansion reflects the growing importance of drone delivery in logistics. DroneUp’s operations promise faster, more sustainable delivery options for residents in the area.
