Matt Sloane, the Founder and CEO of Skyfire Consulting, a leading public safety UAS consulting group, has been honored by Emory University’s esteemed 40 Under Forty program. Emory University, globally recognized for fostering change-makers across various industries, has chosen Sloane as one of this year’s distinguished alumni.
The 40 Under Forty program highlights innovators like Sloane who are making significant impacts in their sectors. This year’s honorees encompass a diverse range of professionals, including lawyers addressing intricate issues, an entrepreneur combating test anxiety, and a professor aiding children during difficult times.

Sloane’s career path is remarkable. He started at CNN Medical News, reporting alongside Dr. Sanjay Gupta on a variety of health and wellness topics and breaking news stories. His exceptional work earned him three Daytime Emmy award nominations and a New York Festival award for his outstanding coverage of Diana Nyad’s historic swim from Cuba to Key West.
In 2014, Sloane ventured into the drone technology sector, founding Skyfire. The company offers crucial expertise to public safety agencies, with a focus on the rapidly expanding use of drones. Sloane notably serves on the National Fire Protection Association’s committee on drones and is a member of the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International’s Air Advocacy Committee.
