Don’t miss Rob Corbett on Dawn of Drones this week: Wednesday March 16 at 11:00 AM EST! Stream Below:
This week’s featured Dawn of Drones podcast guest is Rob Corbett, U.S. Air Force disabled veteran, quadroplegic and staunch advocate for inclusive flight. Join Dawn and Rob in this third installment of the year-long Volatus Above and Beyond Series during “Industry Diversity” Month (sponsor: Iris Automation)!
The two will discuss Rob’s inspirational story, his passion for including “other abled” individuals in the drone industry, and his various lines of effort to ensure that flight is accessible to everyone! Volatus Aerospace is Canada’s largest, technology-enabled unmanned aerial solution provider, dedicated to commercializing the full potential of unmanned technologies throughout the Americas and around the world. This philanthropic series recognizes the companies, agencies or organizations in the UAS/AAM ecosystem whose efforts, like Volatus’, go above and beyond to advance the industry!
Rob is an Inclusive Flight Advocate and USAF veteran from Virginia. After suffering a catastrophic spinal cord injury in 2016, he has devoted his time in educating and training individuals of all “Abilities” in assistive technology, vocational skills and adapted sUAS operations. Rob is paralyzed from the chest down and has no finger function in his hands. Through many hours of research and development he has found many solutions in adapting sUAS controllers and systems. He developed a fully inclusive drone training program based around providing people with physical and cognitive barriers a means to operate drones. Rob has conducted training with people from various backgrounds and walks of life. He is currently working on ways to expand this inclusive sUAS training and hopes to provide a means of flight for people who otherwise would be grounded.
Check out the documentary “Flight Takes Many Forms” releasing 1 September, 2022 to learn more about Rob’s journey as he collaborates with various industry leaders showcasing their stories and pathways to a more diverse and inclusive drone operations.
