Truly Automated Drones are Still Ground-Breaking: WEF Names Airobotics One of the World’s Tech Pioneers

July 1, 2019 by Miriam McNabb 7 Comments

Automation is a word – and a concept – that gets thrown around a lot in the drone industry.  Critical features including automated flights, automated conflict avoidance, and automated charging are constantly being developed.  Still, a regular industrial or military drone mission that is truly fully automated – without a pilot or human operator required onsite – is relatively rare.

It’s an area in which Airobotics made their mark, and their investment with regulatory bodies in Israel and the United States has paid off – their technology is being implemented in missions around the globe.  Today, Airobotics was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a “Technology Pioneer” – one of the companies truly changing the business landscape.

The following is an Airobotics press release.

July 1, 2019 – Scottsdale, Arizona – Airobotics, an industry leader in data-driven automated drones, was selected among hundreds of candidates as one of the World Economic Forum’s “Technology Pioneers”. Airobotics, co-founded by Ran Krauss, represents the next generation of drone operations, overtaking standard piloted services which are expensive, inaccurate and not always available.

The World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneers are awarded to early growth-stage companies from around the world that are involved in the design, development and deployment of new technologies and innovations, and are poised to have a significant impact on business and society.

Following its selection as Technology Pioneer, Ran Krauss, Co-Founder and CEO of Airobotics will be participating in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions.

“We’re excited to welcome Airobotics to this year’s innovative class of technology pioneers,” says Fulvia Montresor, Head of Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum. “Airobotics and its fellow pioneers are leaders in using novel technologies to transform their industries. We see great potential for these next generation companies to shape solutions to global challenges and improve society for years to come.”

“It is an honor to be recognized as a technology pioneer by the World Economic Forum,” said Ran Krauss, CEO and Co-Founder of Airobotics. “Winning such an important award at such a critical time in autonomous robotics further validates our motivation to bring large-scale, safe, and proven automated drone solutions to urban areas. As we continue to break the mold with our technology, regulatory approvals, and global commercialization, we look forward to the new challenges that lie ahead and exceeding market expectations.”

This year’s Tech Pioneers are emerging innovators from a diverse set of industries. These firms are shaping the future by advancing technologies such as AI, IoT, robotics, blockchain, biotechnology and many more. The focus areas of this year’s Tech Pioneers include: adtech, smart cities, cleantech, supply chain, manufacturing, cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles and drones. The diversity of these companies extends to their leadership as well, as 25 percent of 2019 Tech Pioneers are female led. The firms also come from many different regions beyond the United States and Silicon Valley. In fact, this year’s class of 56 firms represent every continent except Antarctica.

The Technology Pioneers were selected by a selection committee of more than 59 academics, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and corporate executives. The committee based its decisions on criteria including innovation, potential impact and leadership. Past recipients include Airbnb, Google, Kickstarter, Mozilla, Palantir Technologies, Spotify, TransferWise, Twitter and Wikimedia.
