If you happened to swing by the PrecisionHawk booth at InterDrone this month, you might have noticed that one day the women answering questions were wearing “Girls Support Girls” t-shirts. PrecisionHawk’s well-known VP of Marketing and Communications, Lia Reich, purchased the t-shirts for her team to wear at the “Women in Drones” lunch, celebrating outstanding women in our industry.
That’s just the kind of effect Sharon Rossmark, creator of the WomenandDrones website, which hosts the Women to Watch in UAS list – and a major force in bringing the community together – might have envisioned. Now, WomenandDrones will join Alimosphere and She Microadventures to provide an amazing tool for new drone businesses, the Women’s Drone Retreat.
“Our strategic partnership with Alimosphere and She Microadventures aligns with one of our core philosophies: we help women Connect, Collaborate & Celebrate,” says Rossmark. “The retreat was born out of the feedback received from surveys and numerous requests for business support in a female friendly learning environment.”
“When Alicia Amerson, CEO of Alimosphere approached us about a strategic partnership the timing was perfect, and her vision for the retreats aligned with the needs of our members. The Women’s Drone Business Retreats are designed to help women develop a plan to increase business revenue, fine tune their business brand image and improve business operations,” Rossmark says.
The team plans to expand the workshops throughout the next year. “The first two workshops will be held in San Diego and Chicago. Based on feedback from the initial workshops, we will rollout additional retreats across the United States and in other countries,” says Rossmark. “We have an amazing lineup of female speakers who will rotate facilitation of the retreats in our 2019 host cities.”
“While the need for a women’s business session was a result of requests from our members, our inspiration is driven by another one of our core philosophies – ‘When women support each other, incredible things happen.'”
