Our content partners at the Roswell Flight Test Crew have learned about anti-drone technology being tested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The first of the two systems demonstrated by ZONE Advanced Protection Systems is the DroneShield. Built on the receiver of an M4 rifle, the DroneShield is a directional drone jamming system capable of engaging drones up to two kilometers away. In addition to the rifle-shaped emitter, the DroneShield also includes a backpack including the batteries and radio frequency generators used to jam drones. The second system is called Repulse, and it generates a 180-degree field that jams drones operating on 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz and causes them to engage their return to home function. The Repulse system is designed to be hand held and operates off any 12-volt power source, making it well suited for mobile applications. By mounting two Repulse units back-to-back, it is possible to create a 360-sphere of protection against drones, effective out to a range of one kilometer.
