Chinese Drone industry heavyweight DJI has launched a new Youtube channel, DJI Creator, which will showcase the very best footage shot by DJI pilots from around the world. Providing your film has been created with DJI equipment, anyone is welcome to submit a video. In many ways it’s the perfect marketing strategy. As well as DJI users competing to submit the best footage they have for selection, it’s also bound to inspire scenery enthusiasts to get hold of a drone and jump on the aerial photography bandwagon themselves.
After agreeing a recent distribution deal with Apple and releasing a steady stream of wildly popular consumer drones, DJI now appears to be attempting to cement its place at the very top of the industry.
Since the launch of the critically acclaimed Phantom 4, the Chinese manufacturer has also announced a new design platform where users can upgrade their drone with a new paint job. Creating a bigger bond with the consumer hardly seems a priority when your hardware is far and away the most popular in the consumer space. Having said that, it looks as though the bosses at DJI aren’t going to let complacency become an issue, as the company seeks to expand the market they already dominate through social media platform Youtube.
Social media sites are sharing more video content than ever, and if a picture speaks a thousand words, a stunning aerial video of, for example, the Icelandic wilderness, is going to do wonders for the already strong reputation of DJI drones.
