We have reported on many stories of the use of drones in real estate. Most have focused on drone service providers (as found in JobForDrone.com) enhancing the marketing efforts of realtors in the luxury home category. But more and more, we are seeing realtors take to the skies with their own drone.
One such realtor is Robert McArtor, Team Leader at Maryland Homes Team . Robert provides complimentary AERIAL and Video Walking Tours for all his listing. He’s up to forty homes and over twenty community subjects such as schools and parks. Robert, a member of the Unmanned Aircraft Professional Association began his drone projects with a Blade 350QX and now uses the DJI Phantom 2.
“I have a per-flight checklist I use prior to flying my Drone or (UAS), It takes me approximately 15 to 20 minutes to video the outside of a property I am selling. Once edited (another 45 minutes), I may only use 1 to 2 minutes of Aerial Video.”
Robert began with safety in mind, flying in open fields, “doing figure eights in open fields and learning all the ins and outs of the drone prior to ever attempting to fly it near someones house.”
Robert plans to begin offerring his aerial photography services to other realtors in the area and has filed for an exemption with the FAA. As for the future of drones in his real estate practice, ” My clients will come to expect an AERIAL Tour as part of a marketing package. Those who do not want to be a part of this fantastic method of marketing will certainly be left behind.”
