Anura, the Drone That Fits in Your Pocket, Launches Kickstarter Campaign

eec2e2356d3dc11d4422a75afc6f450e_largeAfter a summer full of awesome drone-related Kickstarter campaigns, the autumn’s first major UAV project looking for help from the crowd-sourcing community has launched. Designed by AeriCam, the Anura is a quadcopter designed to be taken with you wherever you go.

The Anura’s arms and propellers fold up so that the body of the drone (3D printed, of course) is about the size of your smartphone- the same smartphone, in fact, you will use to actually fly the Anura.

What’s more, you can live stream and record video (and still images) from the Anura’s camera right to your phone using WiFi.

The Anura app is compatible with both iOS and Android phones.

The current camera has a resolution of 640mp but, creator Jason Lam told Dronelife, the team is “working on possibly have a HD camera option, either built in, or as an add on.”

If the Kickstarter can reach its goal of reserving 1,000 units, the team hopes to add feature like auto take-off and landing, return to home and ‘follow me.’

Check out the Anura intro video below and support the project on the Kickstarter page. Lam says he hopes to ship the first units in April.
