Is your week droning on? Fear not! To get over the end-of-the-week-slump, check out these videos of cool ways people are using UAS all over the world.
1) The first video this week is short but sweet. Pix4D set out to create an exact 3D model -inside and outside- of Chillon Castle in Switzerland. The accuracy is astounding. While there is no doubt this is an invaluable tool for a variety of business, here is the project I would like to see:
Someone with a lot of time and disposable income needs to get out there and map all of these castles and monuments. They won’t be standing forever and by creating these 3D models, we can preserve them for time immemorial.
2) This video of the Third Benelux Multicopter Race is two things. First, it is the FAA’s worst nightmare. Second, it looks like (and I imagine participating in it feels like) the podracing scene from The Phantom Menace…only with less CGI.
3) Finally this week, is a video from KopterCam, a Helinski, Finland-based aerial photography and video company. They were on hand to capture footage of the Jukola Race and the result was….well, you’ll see.
