On Thursday, German drone manufacturer Luftfotos24 announced the release of its UAS “Beast” series. All together, the series includes the fixed-wing Beast Plane-M, the Beast Copter and the Beast TX ground control station. The Beast series is intended to provide the end user the most efficient, future-proof, updatable, simple and stable system as possible for applications in aerial photography, field campaigns, orthophotos, surveying and precision farming.
The unmanned aircraft can be flown manually or completely autonomously. The autopilot is based on the open source Paparazzi project. Various sensors are included in the platform, such as video live link, which provides an image resolution up to 0.5 cm / per pixel.
The Beast Plane series can reach a flight time of 50 minutes and cover a distance up to 10 square kilometers. The system allows the pilot to choose whether takeoff and/or landing will be fully automatic or manually.
The Beast Copter package includes a GoPro camera, 4K Cinema Production Camera, a thermal imaging camera…really all the bells and whistles. It is capable of about 25 minutes of flight time.
The ground station combines Remote Control, Ground Control and video receiver in one device. The image processing for is done with Pix4D software, which is included in the complete packages.
