Collaboration Aims to Improve Unmanned Aircraft Detection and Airspace Efficiency
Skyway and MatrixSpace have announced a strategic partnership to integrate advanced air traffic management and unmanned aircraft detection systems. The collaboration aims to improve safety, efficiency, and scalability in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) sectors.
Enhancing Situational Awareness in Vertiport Operations
Skyway provides services to airline operators, eVTOL manufacturers, and commercial developers, focusing on vertiport airspace and airfield management. By working with MatrixSpace, Skyway will enhance its deployments using MatrixSpace Radar’s AI-enabled sensing technology. The technology improves situational awareness by detecting, classifying, and visualizing airborne and ground-based objects in real-time.
“Our partnership with MatrixSpace is a game-changer for vertiport operations, bringing an advanced level of detection no one else could provide,” said Clifford Cruz, CEO at Skyway. “Integrating their intelligent radar technology with our vertiport infrastructure will ensure safer, more reliable, and scalable operations for AAM, addressing critical needs in the aerospace and urban air mobility industries.”
Supporting BVLOS Operations and Air Traffic Management
As urban air mobility expands, robust air traffic management solutions become increasingly important. MatrixSpace’s radar systems provide features such as object detection, telemetry capture, and mesh network synchronization. These capabilities will support Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations, which are essential for efficient eVTOL flights and drone deployments in commercial, public safety, and defense applications.
“This partnership is pivotal for accelerating innovations in aerospace navigation and ensuring seamless integration across the AAM ecosystem. MatrixSpace’s collaboration with Skyway will bring next generation sensing technology to vertiport operations,” said Lori DeMatteis, Chief Revenue Officer at MatrixSpace. “Our solutions are designed to provide unparalleled situational awareness, ease and flexibility and together, we’re creating a foundation for the safe and scalable future of air mobility.”
Addressing Key Challenges in Vertiport and Corridor Operations
By combining Skyway’s vertiport expertise with MatrixSpace’s radar systems, the partnership will help improve drone detection and mitigate risks associated with unmanned aircraft operations. Real-time air traffic monitoring will reduce the risk of collisions and ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, enhanced coordination between vertiports and airborne assets will optimize flight paths and scheduling.
The partnership underscores the evolving landscape of aerospace navigation and the role of technology in advancing urban air mobility. With improved detection capabilities and air traffic management solutions, the collaboration aims to support the future of safe and efficient AAM operations.
