Now, Dronamics, the first cargo drone airline licensed to operate in Europe, will collaborate with Hellenic Post (ELTA) to use cargo drones for middle mile postal logistics. “Starting with a domestic service connecting the mainland with islands, the two companies are also exploring international cooperation to provide postal cargo drone deliveries from Athens to key European cities,” says a company announcment.
Dronamics expects to begin commercial operations early in 2024: Greece is the launch market. The company plans to establish same day service between Athens and areas in the north of the country, as well as islands in the south. Dronamics will partner with Golden Cargo, a premium logistics, handling and warehousing service provider, as the General Sales and Service Agent.
Dronamics can offer up to 80% faster, 50% cheaper and 60% lower in CO2 emissions freight compared to traditional services, making it well suited to time-sensitive deliveries such as post and packages. Its remotely-piloted aircraft, the Black Swan, requires 400 meters only to land and take off, a viable solution for reaching remote and underserved areas, where traditional airport infrastructure is missing or underdeveloped. There are over 300 inhabited islands in Greece whose communities can benefit from a faster, cheaper and green air cargo solution.
“We are very excited to be partnering with Hellenic Post, an organization renowned for its historic legacy and impressive reach. Dronamics is on a mission to enable same day delivery for everyone, everywhere, and joining forces with ELTA helps us move forward in our goal. This collaboration is a pivotal step toward empowering communities, bridging distances and making essential services affordable and accessible for everyone,” says Svilen Rangelov, Co-Founder and CEO of Dronamics.
“The Hellenic Post-Dronamics partnership is an important initiative that will change the map in the Greek courier market. Together with Dronamics, we will provide services all over Greece faster, farther and in a greener way. This partnership is a turning point in our reorganization, since it summarizes our motto for the future: “Reaching everywhere, better”, says Grigoris Sklikas, CEO of Hellenic Post.
The post and parcel sector is becoming one of the early adopters of Dronamics’ faster, cheaper, green cargo drone technology. Last month, Dronamics announced an LOI with the Emirates Post Group, the national postal service in the UAE.
