Belgian Unmanned Traffic Management provider Unifly expanded this week by establishing a new subsidiary, Unifly ApS, to be headquartered in Copenhagen. The company says the new firm will enhance customer support and development in the Scandinavia and Baltics regions.

Key to the new subsidiary was the hiring of drone veterans Peter Byrn as project manager and Tobias Lundby as technical business analyst

“I am proud of the setup of Unifly ApS as a subsidiary and the employment of Peter and Tobias, which highlights our progress as a company. With Peter and Tobias on the team, we are able to provide our partners with more intense support in the region,” Managing Director of Unifly ApS Ronni Winkler Østergaard said.

Byrn specializes in remote sensing, GIS, location intelligence and virtual 3D modeling. He has a master’s degree of Geographic Information Technologies from Aalborg University and Royal Technical University in Stockholm.

“Unifly is a technology-driven company where innovation, IT solutions and agility are all key elements. All of those elements line up perfectly with my engagement and enthusiasm,” Byrn said. “I also have a great personal interest in the drone industry in general. So, being part of all this within a company that is strongly going to influence the future, is very motivating and extremely exciting.”

As an analyst, Lundby brings a deep background in robotics engineering with a master’s degree in Unmanned Aerial Systems from the University of Southern Denmark with a thesis on UTM. His areas of focus include manual and autonomous drone operations, navigation in changing environments and Specific Operations Risk Assessment.

“When I received the offer to be a part of [Unifly’s] Scandinavian expansion, it was an obvious step in my career,” Lundby said.

The expansion comes on the heels of several recent wins for Unify:
