June 17: Deadline Approaches for Drone Image Contest

Does your drone photography reach new heights in artistry and innovation?

The Art Photo Travel Association is looking for the few, the artistic, the best in UAV visual artists for the inaugural DrAw Photo Contest (Drone Awards) with a looming deadline of June 17.

Awards will be presented on Oct. 27 at the Siena International Photo Awards Ceremony in Siena, Italy.Categories include: Abstract, Nature, People, Sport, Urban and Wildlife.

According to organizers: “Winners will have the opportunity to be featured in hundreds of the most popular and prestigious international publications.”

The top artist will be crowned DrAw Photographer of the Year 2018 and will receive the Pangea Prize, a crystal sphere (which would be just as much at home on a wizard’s shelf) as well as photography equipment valued at more than $500.

In addition, the grand-prize winner will win two overnight stays in Siena for the awards ceremony and admission to the Gala Dinner.

Both the Pangea winner and each category winner will be showcased at the Beyond the Lens exhibition.

With no entry fee, the contest should be a no-brainer for any talented drone visual artist. Contestants can submit as many entries as they desire but only the first submission is free; more images will cost you $9.43 (8 Euros).

Although the contest is billed as a drone-photography event, organizers will also accept images from fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, balloons, blimps, rockets, kites and parachutes.
The jury includes drone photographers Dan Humphrys, Chase Guttman, Luca Bracali and Sean Davey.

Art Photo Travel is billed as a non-profit that “creates cultural initiatives aimed at spreading, promoting and enhancing photography, art, cultures and natural beauty from all around the world. Initiatives and projects address, not only, those who love photography and culture, but also those interested in the most unknown and less touristy spots of various worldwide locations.”
