Measure “Measures” Drone Inspection Success with New Client

A leading drone inspection service hopes to energize a global utility company.

Billed as “the nation’s leading Drone as a Service operator,” Measure announced a partnership with energy company AES which will deploy inspection drones in 17 countries, saving AES money and man hours, as well as avoiding more than 30,000 hours of potentially hazardous work each year.

Measure’s drones will inspect AES’ massive energy infrastructure to include renewable and thermal generation facilities, as well as distribution companies.

“This is the year drone technology gets fully integrated in operations. At many of the nations’ leading energy companies we are seeing a push to move beyond the R&D phase, and get this technology fully-deployed into the field,” Measure CEO Brandon Torres Declet said. He added that AES had already logged 3,000 flights in 10 countries.

“We are excited to be chosen as their strategic partner to ‘make drones work’ at scale across their global portfolio of energy infrastructure, and to improve safety and increase availability of their energy solutions in the United States and abroad,” Declet added.

AES Chief Operating Office Bernerd Da Santos says the partnership will create a safer, smarter workplace for the company, thanks to drones.

“Drone technology has proven itself at AES over the last three years, improving safety by reducing hazards across 15,000 hours of work and regularly increasing the availability and productivity of our energy solutions. With Measure, we are making this technology standard across all of our businesses globally as quickly as possible.”

Measure continues to wing its way to top-flight status among inspection drone companies. In 2016, Measure partnered with DJI, the world’s largest drone manufacturer to “develop and deploy UAV operations in the fields of agriculture, energy, and media.”

“Organizations will now have a comprehensive partner to explore demanding operations such as spraying with DJI’s Agras MG-1 agricultural drone, or broadcasting live directly from a UAV to a newsroom,” a Measure press release stated.

Earlier this year, the company raised $15 million in Series B financing. Measure also provides franchise opportunities for licensed independent drone operators, supplying business and application specific training.
