This Monster Drone is the Ski-lift You’ve Always Wanted

Youtuber and videographer Casey Neistat is known for being a big fan of drone technology. As a man with a channel boasting more than 6 million subscribers, he’s also in a unique position to take part in sponsored projects and stunts with tech industry giants. This week it was Samsung, who built him a custom drone ski-lift that might just make snowboarding even cooler than it already is.

We’ve seen personal transport drones before, but not like this:

From what we can tell this monster is an octocopter, and though it’s clearly powerful enough to lift a grown man off a mountain, it’s perhaps not as comfortable a ride as you’d get with the EHang 184. To make up for the lack of comfort, Neistat added to the Christmas theme by dressing up as Santa and adding some festive lights to his new ski-lift.

Neistat has said that the drone was also shooting video using Samsung’s last 360 degrees VR camera. That video should be available shortly.

We doubt this beast will ever be available to the consumer market, but it’s nice to see a positive story about drone technology and someone having some fun with its potential.
