Earlier this year we featured Flyhum, a burgeoning drone marketplace where like-minded pilots can network and sell drones and services. After a short break, (Site founder Malik Mo had to complete his master’s program) Flyhum is now back better than ever, with a range of new features that drone enthusiasts will find appealing.
We got in touch with Flyhum founder Malik Mo to find out some more about his motivations and the drone marketplace platform that he’s putting together.
So why launch a drone marketplace? It quickly becomes clear that Mo’s motivation comes from his own frustration with the lack of options out there for pilots wanting to sell drones and services. “I decided to setup Flyhum because there currently isn’t a cost-effective, safe and reliable way to buy and sell drones online,” he says.
“I was bothered by the options to sell my used drones and gear online. Ebay and Amazon provided the largest viewership but cost too much in fees and commissions. Craigslist was an option but kept my viewership limited to my local neighborhood and had no rating system for trust. Forums and WordPress sites were the next best bet, yet safe transactions and user friendliness of navigating these sites were problematic.”
The solution then, was an obvious one. “So I figured why not create a marketplace that doesn’t charge a commission fee, is safe, reliable and simple to use. This is when Flyhum was born!”
Since we last spoke with Mo, Flyhum has added several new features to make it easier to use and more efficient for drone enthusiasts. First of all, Mo says, there’s “Improved search within the site. I figured as more folks post drones a strong search feature would be beneficial. I created the ability to search keyword & location at the same time, for example ‘DJI in NYC'”.
Flyhum has also been updated to allow for more interactive listings with embedded YouTube videos, while the backend has been upgraded to speed up the site’s performance. In the next couple of weeks there will also be a new forum feature, for pilots to network, discuss ideas and debate recent news in the industry.
It looks like Flyhum is a great platform that will quickly become popular with pilots around the US. Mo says that there are already in excess of 1,000 users, and with anything like this, the more that people jump on the bandwagon, the more it offers to the community as a whole.
So why should you give Flyhum a go? “Choose Flyhum because it is a safe, reliable, and simple way to buy or sell drones online,” says Mo. It’s “Designed specifically for drone enthusiasts by drone enthusiasts, and provides a variety of unique features and benefits that aren’t available anywhere else.” You heard the man!
