Drones and extreme sports have gone hand in hand for a while now. Several manufacturers build models compatible with GoPro cameras, and Follow Me functionality has almost become the norm. The result? Plenty of extreme sports fanatics are now able to capture their exploits on camera, in smarter, more dynamic ways than ever before. A good case in point is a video that’s emerged from Norway this week. Check it out below, and try not to faint.
The video features some crazy base jumpers throwing themselves off a cliff in Norway’s stunning Lysefjord. The fjord is home to Preikestolen, an epic cliff hanging out over the water below, and one of the world’s most visited natural landmarks.
The video was shot and edited by Espen Hatleskog, and has footage from a DJI Phantom 3 professional, which sits out over the cliff and watches as the jumpers take a huge leap of faith. There are other cameras used in the video, but arguably the best shots are the ones taken from directly above the action.
There are a few drones out at the moment catered towards extreme sports enthusiasts, including the Airdog. Later this year GoPro will be releasing its own drone, the Karma. After a six month delay the camera company will be hoping to take the extreme sports market by storm come the holiday season.
