FLYPRO Showcases Sports Drone With Smartwatch Controls

Chinese drone manufacturer FLYPRO has exhibited its latest model, the XEagle, at the Hobby Expo in Shenzhen. The drone is targeted at active sports photographers, and can be fully controlled via a smart watch.

Manufacturers around the world are trying to simplify the process of flying a drone. We’ve gradually seen a move from complex controllers to smarter software and drones that can be controlled through apps and even gestures. That FLYPRO’s XEagle can be completely controlled through the use of a smart watch seems a logical next step in this evolution.

The accompanying smart watch has a series of buttons and controls to allow for complete control straight from the wrist. The drone can also take commands through voice controls spoken into the smart watch.

FLYPRO’S XEagle

The XEagle is an intelligent unmanned aerial vehicle developed for the outdoor sports and tourism markets. It features a wide range of functionalities, including voice control through a smart watch, one-button control through the same device, automatic obstacle avoidance when flying at high speeds, and an moving camera with a cradle head.

The XEagle will come in four models: Lite, Sport, Advanced and Professional. The Professional is the only one of the four that will include obstacle avoidance system technology, powered by an infrared system with built-in photoelectric sensors. The Sport, Advanced and Professional models will all be fitted with 4K Video cameras.

CEO Lin Haiput has said the company will continue to focus on developing innovative technologies that are in demand by hobbyists. The new FLYPRO drones put high-tech, conceptual designs into the hands of users. The next generation of products will continue to target the hobbyist market and be powered by newly released innovative technologies.

FLYPRO are yet to release prices or shipment dates, but both are expected later this year.
