It’s been challenging to operate a drone commercially. Fortunately, things are getting a little better. While there are still hurdles, there is a method addressing them. The UAVSA is here to make sure you have all the information you need to make money legally and safely.
Here is a checklist for review. If you need help we can offer you not for profit assistance:
- Private Companies – having the right FAA 333 Exemption
- Public Entities – Having the right Certificate of Authorization
- All Commercial Operators – having FAA N Numbers for your aircraft
THROUGH UAV SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION
Contracting Services:
We are always asked by holders of the 333 Exemption, as well as Petitioners waiting for the grant of Exemption, how to make additional money. Here is a legal way for both groups of anxious drone owners to earn extra dollars:
Exemption Owners:
It wasn’t long ago when you were waiting for the FAA to act on your Letter of Petition so you could go out and start commercially operating your fleet of drones and make some good money before other like-minded drone owners stepped into the industry. If only someone who had already been granted an Exemption would let you operate under their grant: the problem was you didn’t know anyone with a grant, and if you did, you didn’t know how to contact them and how to construct the deal.
Well, there is a large pool of well qualified individuals and companies just waiting on the sidelines while their LOP is getting processed. This pool of qualified drone operators is a resource just waiting to be tapped and with the right incentives would jump at the chance to start working and earning money. As part of the teaming exercise, you as owner of the 333 Exemption, would be paid a negotiated fee by the Petitioner for the use of the Exemption.
The obvious hurdle is knowing where and how to contact this available pool of potential assets as well as how to vet the person/entity to ensure your Exemption won’t be compromised.
Pending Exemption Owners:
Likewise, qualified Petitioners waiting for the grant of their 333 Exemption are eager to begin commercially flying their drones. If offered the chance to fly under an existing grant of Exemption these waiting Petitioners would gladly enter into a mutually binding agreement whereby the owner of the Exemption would be paid a negotiated fee for the privilege of operating under the 333 Exemption.
UAV SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION CAN HELP!
As a national association UAVSA has access to thousands of 333 Exemption holders and Petitioners across the country with whom we already have a working relationship. Over the past several years UAVSA has helped hundreds of entities and individuals obtain the grant of the 333 Exemption. Additionally, at any one time, UAVSA has hundreds of Letters of Petition for waiting Petitioners in the FAA pipeline. With this ever growing data base and pool of potential participants UAVSA has the ability to match up Exemption holders involved in a particular discipline with waiting Petitioners conducting similar operations: a natural match.
In short, UAVSA does the leg work; we contact potential candidates; we match up future partners to money making ventures; and we provide the contract to be entered into by and between the respective parties. We do all of this for a small fee.
In Order to Get Started:
This is a courtesy service to all UAVSA members. In order to get started with the process all we need is for an interested Petitioner to contact us and tell us what they are looking for: this is the local in which they are providing services; the type of services provided and the term of the services they want to provide. Exemption holders need to provide us with similar information: the services they provide and any other concerns they may have.
With the above information we will begin to search for a viable list of matches which will be presented to the Exemption holder for review. Once the Exemption holder agrees to a match-up we arrange payment of fees and the parties can move forward with their arrangement. It’s as easy as that.
It is suggested that all interested parties contact us quickly to be submitted into our data base for future consideration. Contact Yancy A. Miller, JD, our Legal Director, should you have any questions or comments.
