It’s a big year for the drone industry, and DJI’s unveiling of the Phantom 4 has certainly started it off with a bang. In anticipation of more high-profile releases in the coming months, and as a reaction to a market growing more competitive by the day, several manufacturers have slashed prices on their drones. Last month it was 3DR, and this time we have news from the makers of the Hexo+.
In order to remain competitive and accessible to as many consumers as possible, Hexo+ has decided to lower the price of its drone, down to $999 from $1349.
Antoine Level, CEO at Hexo+, stated that “after a successful launch as the first autonomous drone to the market and a growing stream of orders, it becomes necessary for us to revise our pricing structure, to be even more relevant in a very crowded space. We hope this will allow the opportunity for even more people to capture their sports and creative content using Hexo+.”
The company has also released a new promo video showing the Hexo+ in action on the slopes of the French Alps. It’s a bit reminiscent of GoPro’s Karma video with snowboarder Bobby Brown, but with more scenery and much less mysteriousness.
Hexo+ insists that while prices are dropping, the same level of quality that has put its drone on the map won’t be going anywhere soon. The Hexo+ offers an autonomous system that includes hands-free piloting, fully automated take-off and landing, framing, a library of camera movements, and an intuitive smartphone app. The team is also looking ahead and working on a couple of new product developments due for release later this year.
