TV Uses Drones to Get Viewers Attention

Drones are intriguing and generally of great interest to those being introduced to these flying machines for the first time. Just ask any pilot who has brought his drone to the park for a test flight. The pilot is likely to be bombarded with questions from onlookers anxious to understand how they work as they watch the drone soar through the sky.

Of course this isn’t always the case, but in general the public is excited, intrigued, and a bit scared of the emergence of drones.

TV and advertising executives know this and understand that drones will garner audience attention. As a result, we are seeing the incorporation of drones in television shows and commercials.  For the second time, Modern Family incorporated a drone into their wildly popular show this week.

This week, Audi introduced a commercial spoofing Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, where drones replace birds and chase anxious workers to the serenity of their Audi A6.

This is only the beginning. As long as the drone fascination continues, forward-thinking advertising agencies will incorporate them into their promotion. It won’t be long before Flo will be flying her Phantom around the Progressive Insurance offices or a Geiko actor will be spouting “I bet you didn’t know that George Washing had a drone.” Stay Tuned.
