A red drone, bearing roses from the sky,
O’er fair Verona where we lay our scene,
Technology meets romance way up high,
for Valentines Day, Two Thousand Fifteen.
Continuing the trend of ‘a drone for every occasion,’ Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk is introducing the CupidDrone this Valentines Day to drop roses on the people of Verona.
The CupidDrone is “a modern day St. Valentine engineered to deliver drone by stealth,” said Bram de Rooij, Creative Director at Kingsday (the creative agency behind the campaign). “Technology may have changed over the years, but the effect of flowers definitely has not!”
The drone itself is a modified DJI Phantom and is only being flown in Verona:
Someday we may see advertising like this in the U.S. but, as the commercial drones industry stands, you can imagine the FAA would take to the CupidDrone like the Montagues take to the Capulets.
Not for nothing, though, as the last attempt at merging drones, a holiday, and romance here in the states ended with a bloody patron at a TGI Fridays during Christmas.
So, until we learn to fly responsibly and the FAA opens up the sky, we will have to live vicariously through our creative European counterparts.
