Three-fer Thursday 8/7: 3D Printing Props, Water Balloon Bombs & a Drone Jedi Master

Is your week droning on? Fear not! To get over the end-of-the-week-slump, check out these videos of cool ways people are using UAS all over the world.

1) Couple months ago, aerial photographer Matt Quest created the chassis of a quadcopter by drawing it with his 3D pen. He then slapped on some propellors, a circuit board and battery and away it flew. In his apparent quest to develop every part of the beast with a 3D printing pen, Quest has now posted a video demonstrating how he 3D-drew a propellor for a DJI Phantom.

2) We don’t recommend trying any of this at home.

That being said, it was only a matter of time until someone stated using a drone to drop water balloons… and the only natural progression from there is to ask “what else can we drop?!”

3) This video comes with two warnings: Don’t Try This at Home and May Cause Motion Sickness… so, naturally, it’s awesome.

This is the kind of work that can only be accomplished by a professional first person view drone pilot (or, as we in the business say “Drone Jedi”). As you watch this video by Carlos Puertolas, try to keep in mind that it’s in real time. It’s not sped up at all.

PS- Nobody uses the term Drone Jedi. But they should.
