DJI, makers of the extremely popular Phantom UAV line, announced on Friday a new model of their high-end aerial photography platform – the Spreading Wings S900.
The goal of the new model was to reduce size and weight while increasing power and usability.
In other words, the S900 is meant to combine the power and utility of the Spreading Wings S1000 with the portability of the S800.
The new hexacopter features collapsible, carbon fiber arms and landing gear, and easily customizable center board (compatible with existing DJI flight controllers), and 4114 pro motors.
In addition to being compatible with existing DJI flight controllers, the S900 is also compatible with DJI’s Zenmuse gimbals and LightBridge video downlink.
The S900 is capable of up to 18 minutes of flight time and a payload of up to 8.2 kilograms.
The new hexacopter is available for preorder now with a price point around $3,800, depending on flight controller and gimbal options.
