Amazon Will Likely Move Drone R&D Out of US

Additionally, Jeff Bezos and company are putting pressure on Michael Huerta and the Federal Aviation Agency to make moves toward allowing commercial use.

As Amazon points out in their request, they are an ideal candidate to conduct safe, deliberate testing. They rightly argue that they’ve got the resources and reputation to do it right.

Amazon Will Take Drones Out of US if Forced
In their request for permission, Amazon also made it clear they will move their UAV research outside of US borders if they have to:

“We have been limited to conducting R&D flights indoors or in other countries. Of course, Amazon would prefer to keep the focus, jobs, and investment of this important research and development initiative in the United States by conducting private research and development operations outdoors near Seattle.”

At least they’re up front about their intentions. The question is how long Amazon will wait for a response?
