Goosebuster: The Anti-Goose Poop Drone (Video)

Its that time of year again; the Canada Geese are making their way south, which means they are starting to leave little presents all over the lawns, sidewalks, and golf courses of America. For a solution to this problem, we can look to city officials in Ottawa, who have figured out a way to deter the geese from using important acreage as their toilet.

The Goosebuster, created by ex-IBM employee Steve Wambolt uses flashing lights and loud noises (another parallel to its namesake) to scare away the birds. It was developed with the intention to protect the waters around Ottawa’s Petrie Island from increasing E. Coli levels. According to The Daily Dot, the drone is incredibly cheaper than all previous efforts to chase away the geese and, “since Ottawa officials started using the Goosebuster, the terrified geese have been fleeing the beaches en masse.”

Now, if we could just straighten out all the loosey-goosey drone laws in the U.S, we could call up the Goosebuster ourselves. You can check out the drone in action below.
