Experts predict that disaster relief will be among the fastest growing applications of UAVs in the next four years, according to a new industry study.
The “Global Airborne UAV Remote Sensing Market 2014-2018” report notes that procedures currently in place for disaster management need improvement, which likely will queue an increased demand for UAVs with remote sensing technology.
Just two weeks ago, the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue (CRASAR) at Texas A&M University sent a team of UAV pilots to aid in the recovery efforts following a mudslide east of Oso, Washington, which claimed the lives of at least 34 people.
